| If you wish to obtain or gain access to records held by the Chiropractors Registration Board of Victoria, you will need to determine whether the information you require is a public document or whether you should apply under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 1982. You may contact the Board to enquire as to whether the information you require is available for inspection or purchase or whether you should apply for it under the provisions of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act. Some information may not be available if it is classified under the FOI Act as an "exempt document". To apply for a document under the provisions of the FOI Act, you may do so by providing details in writing to the FOI Officer or alternatively, you may complete an FOI Request Form. | The Chiropractors Registration Board of Victoria is committed to the protection of private information and will comply with all relevant legislation including strict adherence to the Health Privacy Principles insofar as they are applicable to the functions of the Board. The Board which is appointed pursuant to both the Chiropractors Registration Act 1996 and the Health Professions Act 2005, has a primary role. To protect the public by providing for the registration of Chiropractors and investigations into the professional conduct and fitness to practise of registered Chiropractors.
The Board will only use or disclose information in ways that are consistent with the Act or Regulations or as required in the public interest. The Board will only require information from Chiropractors which is necessary for the Board to fulfil its primary function as required by the Act. It may also collect information voluntarily provided by Chiropractors which will not be released without the authority of the Chiropractor to do so. The Board will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information held is accurate, complete, up-to-date and securely stored. Chiropractors will have access to the information held about them. Under circumstances where there is a complaint about a Chiropractor from a member of the public and the Board obtains private information relating to the complainant, the Board will not release that For more Information please consult The Information Privacy Act 2000 and The Health Records Act 2001. |
